Potato Chips Price in Greece (FOB) - 2023

In June 2023, the average potato chips export price amounted to $4,811 per ton, increasing by 13% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a slight contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 91% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $8,025 per ton. From February 2023 to June 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Albania ($7,988 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cyprus ($3,973 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Albania (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Potato Chips Price in Greece (CIF) - 2023

The average potato chips import price stood at $3,435 per ton in June 2023, shrinking by -19.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a mild reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 37% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $5,051 per ton. From May 2023 to June 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($14,982 per ton), while the price for Romania ($3,052 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+13.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Potato Chips Exports in Greece

In 2022, approx. 3.9K tons of potato chips were exported from Greece; with an increase of 34% compared with 2021 figures. Overall, total exports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +55.3% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, potato chips exports surged to $15M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +56.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 27%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
