Plastic Packaging Price in Romania (CIF) - 2022
The average plastic packaging import price stood at $2,891 per ton in 2022, which is down by -5.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 13% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $3,097 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($6,184 per ton), while the price for Hungary ($2,245 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Plastic Packaging Price in Romania (FOB) - 2022
The average plastic packaging export price stood at $4,002 per ton in 2022, which is down by -11.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 23% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $4,542 per ton, and then fell in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($14,519 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($2,296 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan (+18.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Plastic Packaging Imports in Romania
In 2022, approx. 117K tons of plastic packaging were imported into Romania; increasing by 9% on 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 9.2%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
