Plastic Furniture Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average plastic furniture import price amounted to $6.2 per unit, picking up by 6.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 28%. The import price peaked at $8.7 per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($9.9 per unit), while the price for China amounted to $6.2 per unit.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+2.5%).

Plastic Furniture Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2022

The average plastic furniture export price stood at $7.4 per unit in 2022, surging by 2.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average export price increased by 13% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $8.4 per unit. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($13 per unit), while the average price for exports to Yemen ($1.1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Plastic Furniture Imports in Malaysia

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of furniture of plastic, when their volume decreased by -23.1% to 2.1M units. In general, imports, however, posted a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 58% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 2.8M units, and then dropped notably in the following year.

In value terms, plastic furniture imports shrank sharply to $13M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +28.7% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 57% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $16M, and then reduced markedly in the following year.

Plastic Furniture Exports in Malaysia

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was growth in shipments abroad of furniture of plastic, when their volume increased by 3.4% to 786K units. Over the period under review, exports, however, faced a dramatic decrease. The exports peaked at 1.6M units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plastic furniture exports stood at $5.8M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, faced a significant curtailment. The exports peaked at $12M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
