Plastic Furniture Price in Australia (CIF) - 2022

The average plastic furniture import price stood at $14 per unit in 2022, surging by 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, plastic furniture import price increased by +23.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 58% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from the United States ($14 per unit) and China ($14 per unit), while the price for Malaysia ($14 per unit) and Italy ($14 per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+20.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Plastic Furniture Price in Australia (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average plastic furniture export price amounted to $16 per unit, picking up by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 37%. The export price peaked at $19 per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to the Philippines ($16 per unit) and Indonesia ($16 per unit), while the average price for exports to China ($16 per unit) and the UK ($16 per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Plastic Furniture Imports in Australia

After three years of growth, purchases abroad of furniture of plastic decreased by -5.5% to 6.2M units in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 24% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 6.6M units, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, plastic furniture imports totaled $90M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +48.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
