Plastic Bag Price in Serbia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average plastic bag export price amounted to $3,744 per ton, surging by 2.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a mild contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 10%. The export price peaked at $4,348 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($11,406 per ton), while the average price for exports to Romania ($2,122 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Plastic Bag Price in Serbia (CIF) - 2022
The average plastic bag import price stood at $4,064 per ton in 2022, reducing by -1.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 18%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,135 per ton, and then reduced in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($7,330 per ton), while the price for Montenegro ($1,835 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Plastic Bag Exports in Serbia
In 2022, the amount of plastic sacks and bags exported from Serbia rose notably to 9.8K tons, growing by 7.3% against the previous year. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, plastic bag exports expanded notably to $37M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 13%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.3% over the last three years.
