Peanut Butter Price in Thailand (FOB) - 2023
The average peanut butter export price stood at $4,851 per ton in September 2023, rising by 4.8% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 41% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $6,401 per ton. From June 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($11,660 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($3,301 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Peanut Butter Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average peanut butter import price amounted to $2,345 per ton, falling by -14.2% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a slight expansion from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, peanut butter import price decreased by -14.2% against August 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 49% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $3,798 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($9,288 per ton), while the price for China ($2,013 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Peanut Butter Exports in Thailand
In 2022, overseas shipments of peanut butter and prepared or preserved groundnuts decreased by -1.5% to 7.5K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.2% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 33% against the previous year.
In value terms, peanut butter exports contracted to $35M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +9.7% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 23%.
