In September 2023, the average paper label import price amounted to $14,810 per ton, stabilizing at the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2023 when the average import price increased by 13% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in September 2023.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Turkey ($16,611 per ton) and Japan ($16,549 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($11,188 per ton) and Belgium ($11,218 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Paper Label Price in New Zealand (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average paper label export price amounted to $16,932 per ton, leveling off at the previous month. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2023 an increase of 9.2% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $17,048 per ton, leveling off in the following month.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In September 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to French Polynesia ($17,092 per ton) and Malaysia ($17,092 per ton), while the average price for exports to New Caledonia ($15,595 per ton) and Fiji ($16,735 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
