Palm Oil Price in Vietnam (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average palm oil import price amounted to $988 per ton, waning by -6.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average import price increased by 23% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,281 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($1,038 per ton), while the price for Malaysia amounted to $912 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (-0.1%).
Palm Oil Price in Vietnam (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average palm oil export price amounted to $1,116 per ton, declining by -4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 23%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,306 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Cambodia.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Cambodia amounted to +0.2% per year.
Palm Oil Imports in Vietnam
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of palm oil, when their volume decreased by -9% to 850K tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 22%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 934K tons, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, palm oil imports declined to $840M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +57.8% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 41% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $984M, and then shrank in the following year.

Palm Oil Exports in Vietnam
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of palm oil, when their volume decreased by -16% to 64K tons. In general, total exports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +15.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +52.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 47% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 77K tons, and then fell markedly in the following year.
In value terms, palm oil exports plummeted to $72M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 63% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $89M, and then plummeted in the following year.
