Crude Coconut Oil Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2023
The average crude coconut oil import price stood at $1,051 per ton in May 2023, with an increase of 3.6% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 an increase of 303% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $13,095 per ton. From November 2022 to May 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Indonesia.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Indonesia amounted to -5.3% per month.
Crude Coconut Oil Price in Thailand (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average crude coconut oil export price amounted to $4,635 per ton, declining by -36.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded pronounced growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 when the average export price increased by 157% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $9,986 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was China ($10,437 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($3,002 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Crude Coconut Oil Imports in Thailand
In 2022, imports of crude coconut (copra) oil into Thailand soared to 12K tons, picking up by 51% compared with the previous year. Overall, imports posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 346%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, crude coconut oil imports surged to $21M in 2022. In general, imports showed a significant expansion. In 2022, overseas shipments of crude coconut (copra) oil were finally on the rise to reach 322 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, recorded a abrupt shrinkage.
