Palm Kernel Oil Price in Vietnam (CIF) - 2022
The average palm kernel oil import price stood at $1,369 per ton in 2022, reducing by -14.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 42%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,597 per ton, and then contracted in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($1,959 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($1,068 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (-0.4%).
Palm Kernel Oil Price in Vietnam (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average palm kernel oil export price amounted to $1,133 per ton, dropping by -7.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 44%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $1,375 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cambodia ($1,152 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lao People's Democratic Republic stood at $1,078 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cambodia (-0.1%).
Palm Kernel Oil Imports in Vietnam
In 2022, supplies from abroad of palm kernel and babassu oil decreased by -2.9% to 480 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 6.5% against the previous year.
In value terms, palm kernel oil imports reduced rapidly to $657K in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +35.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 51%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $790K, and then fell notably in the following year.

Palm Kernel Oil Exports in Vietnam
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was growth in shipments abroad of palm kernel and babassu oil, when their volume increased by 3.7% to 39 tons. In general, exports, however, recorded a perceptible descent.
In value terms, palm kernel oil exports shrank modestly to $44K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a pronounced decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 8.3%.
