Optical Fiber Cables Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2022

The average optical fiber cables import price stood at $3,387 per ton in 2022, declining by -6.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 25% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $14,015 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($3,082 per ton), while the price for Hong Kong SAR stood at $2,611 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-5.4%).

Optical Fiber Cables Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average optical fiber cables export price amounted to $10,989 per ton, with an increase of 12% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $12,032 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($18,296 per ton), while the average price for exports to Guatemala ($4,961 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Peru (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Optical Fiber Cables Imports in Brazil

In 2022, supplies from abroad of optical fiber cables decreased by -45% to 54K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports recorded a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 92%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 113K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, optical fiber cables imports reduced dramatically to $183M in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 30%.

Optical Fiber Cables Exports in Brazil

In 2022, shipments abroad of optical fiber cables decreased by -44.3% to 4.3K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 75% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 7.6K tons, and then shrank notably in the following year.

In value terms, optical fiber cables exports contracted sharply to $47M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 90%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $75M, and then declined significantly in the following year.
