Oil Crops Price in Tanzania (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average oil crops export price amounted to $971 per ton, dropping by -4.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 51%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,907 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($1,382 per ton), while the average price for exports to Uganda ($45 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kenya (+13.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Oil Crops Price in Tanzania (CIF) - 2022
The average oil crops import price stood at $438 per ton in 2022, rising by 1.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average import price increased by 105%. The import price peaked at $529 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($927 per ton), while the price for Uganda ($289 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uganda (+10.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Oil Crops Exports in Tanzania
In 2022, approx. 187K tons of oil crops (primary) were exported from Tanzania; increasing by 11% against 2021 figures. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.7% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 38%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 190K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
