Non-Propelled Vehicle Price in China (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average non-propelled vehicle export price amounted to $29.2 per unit, with a decrease of -6.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a slight decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2022 an increase of 10% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $38.0 per unit. From October 2022 to June 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($48.8 per unit), while the average price for exports to Russia ($14.8 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Non-Propelled Vehicle Price in China (CIF) - 2022
The average non-propelled vehicle import price stood at $179 per unit in 2022, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 78%. The import price peaked at $180 per unit in 2021, and then reduced modestly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($571 per unit), while the price for Spain ($36 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+25.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Non-Propelled Vehicle Exports in China
For the fourth year in a row, China recorded growth in overseas shipments of vehicles not mechanically propelled, which increased by 13% to 68M units in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 65% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, non-propelled vehicle exports stood at $2.2B in 2022. In general, total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +46.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 33%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Non-Propelled Vehicle Imports in China
After two years of decline, overseas purchases of vehicles not mechanically propelled increased by 11% to 157K units in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a dramatic setback. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at 340K units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, non-propelled vehicle imports expanded markedly to $28M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a abrupt downturn. Imports peaked at $38M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
