In 2016, the amount of trailer exported worldwide amounted to 6M tonnes, moving up by 7% against the previous year figure. Overall, trailer exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011, when export increased by 30% against the previous year level. Over the period under review, global trailer exports reached its maximum volume in 2016, and are expected to retain its growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, trailer exports stood at $23B in 2016. Overall, trailer exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, global trailer exports attained its maximum level of $26B in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

Trailer Exports By Country

Germany (1.2M tonnes), and China (1.1M tonnes) represented roughly 38% of total exports of trailer in 2016. The U.S. (712K tonnes) ranks second globally in trailer exports with a 12% share, following Mexico (6%), the Netherlands (5%), and Poland (5%). The following exporters - Hungary (171K tonnes), Belgium (154K tonnes), Turkey (151K tonnes), France (140K tonnes), the UK (130K tonnes), and Italy (117K tonnes) together made up 14% of total exports.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of trailer exports, among the main exporting countries, was attained by Mexico (+12.9% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($5.7B), China ($3.3B) and the U.S. ($3.2B) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2016, together comprising 53% of global exports. These countries were followed by Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland, France, Belgium, Hungary, Italy, Turkey and the UK, which together accounted for a further 28%.

Mexico (+12.8% per year) had the highest growth rate of trailer exports, in terms of the main exporting countries, over the last 9 years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Trailer Export Prices By Country

In 2016, the average export price for trailer amounted to $3,816 per tonne, reducing by -6.8% against the previous year. In general, trailer export price continues to indicate a slight reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008, when export increased by 11% year-to-year. In that year, average trailer export price reached its maximum level of $4,775 per tonne. From 2009 to 2016, growth of average trailer export price stood at a somewhat lower level.

Export prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest export prices was Italy ($4,880 per tonne), while Turkey ($2,828 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of trailer export prices was attained by China (+1.8% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
