Newsprint Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2023
The average newsprint import price stood at $648 per ton in July 2023, remaining stable against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 when the average import price increased by 5.1% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $792 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,077 per ton), while the price for Canada ($616 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Norway (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Newsprint Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
The average newsprint export price stood at $727 per ton in July 2023, reducing by -13.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 an increase of 18% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $981 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($1,204 per ton), while the average price for exports to Moldova ($644 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Jordan (+22.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Newsprint Imports in Turkey
For the third consecutive year, Turkey recorded decline in purchases abroad of newsprint, which decreased by -2.9% to 112K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a abrupt descent.
In value terms, newsprint imports soared to $83M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +64.3% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Newsprint Exports in Turkey
In 2022, approx. 4.5K tons of newsprint were exported from Turkey; jumping by 214% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports recorded significant growth. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
