Milled Rice Price in Lithuania (CIF) - 2023

In September 2023, the average milled rice import price amounted to $1,022 per ton, with an increase of 5.3% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 49% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,171 per ton. From May 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($1,703 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($590 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Milled Rice Price in Lithuania (FOB) - 2023

In September 2023, the average milled rice export price amounted to $1,026 per ton, falling by -13.3% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.6%. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 39% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $1,337 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($2,240 per ton), while the average price for exports to Latvia ($889 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belarus (+13.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Milled Rice Imports in Lithuania

Milled rice imports into Lithuania skyrocketed to 19K tons in 2022, increasing by 24% compared with the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 21K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, milled rice imports soared to $17M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +20.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +73.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 45%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Milled Rice Exports in Lithuania

Milled rice exports from Lithuania surged to 10K tons in 2022, increasing by 32% on the previous year. In general, exports continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 102%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 12K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, milled rice exports surged to $10M in 2022. Overall, exports posted significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 94% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
