Milled Rice Price in Hungary (CIF) - 2023

In June 2023, the average milled rice import price amounted to $989 per ton, with an increase of 4.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 18% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in June 2023.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Poland ($1,652 per ton), while the price for Myanmar ($681 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Milled Rice Price in Hungary (FOB) - 2023

The average milled rice export price stood at $1,667 per ton in June 2023, picking up by 5% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 50% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $1,750 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Croatia ($3,036 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($1,315 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Milled Rice Imports in Hungary

In 2022, approx. 44K tons of semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice were imported into Hungary; jumping by 32% against the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, milled rice imports skyrocketed to $40M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +42.9% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Milled Rice Exports in Hungary

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 4.9%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 4.6K tons, and then declined in the following year.

The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period.
