Milled Rice Price in Angola (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average milled rice import price amounted to $577 per ton, with an increase of 12% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 40% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $640 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Pakistan ($769 per ton), while the price for Congo ($337 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Pakistan (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average milled rice export price amounted to $753 per ton, picking up by 5.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible shrinkage. The export price peaked at $954 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($6,052 per ton), while the average price for exports to Democratic Republic of the Congo amounted to $556 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+11.7%).

Milled Rice Imports in Angola

In 2022, milled rice imports into Angola totaled 432K tons, increasing by 1.9% against the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 27% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 439K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, milled rice imports expanded rapidly to $249M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 31%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $281M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Milled Rice Exports in Angola

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice, when their volume decreased by -40.1% to 45 tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 407% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 76 tons, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, milled rice exports contracted significantly to $34K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 279%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $54K, and then fell remarkably in the following year.
