The average liqueurs and cordials import price stood at $5.9 per litre in June 2023, shrinking by -19.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 32% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $7.9 per litre. From December 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Cyprus ($11.6 per litre), while the price for France ($3.5 per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average liqueurs and cordials export price amounted to $7.4 per litre, picking up by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, liqueurs and cordials export price increased by +84.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $8 per litre in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($13 per litre), while the average price for exports to the United States ($1.5 per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of liqueurs and cordialses imported into Bulgaria surged to 1.5M litres, jumping by 26% against the previous year. Overall, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +70.0% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 35%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, liqueurs and cordials imports rose significantly to $9.3M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +71.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 54% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
