The average lifting equipment import price stood at $11,007 per unit in 2022, falling by -64.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 172% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $31,276 per unit, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($19,085 per unit), while the price for Italy ($271 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+78.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. 113 units of lifting equipment were imported into New Zealand; picking up by 102% compared with 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a deep reduction. Imports peaked at 273 units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
