Leek Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023
The average leek export price stood at $2,071 per ton in June 2023, growing by 12% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated a moderate expansion from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.4% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, leek export price increased by +107.7% against November 2022 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 31% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in June 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($3,008 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($1,601 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Leek Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average leek import price amounted to $1,876 per ton, waning by -13.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 an increase of 30% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,529 per ton. From September 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Kenya ($7,024 per ton), while the price for Spain ($769 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Leek Exports in the Netherlands
In 2022, approx. 58K tons of leeks and other alliaceous vegetables were exported from the Netherlands; picking up by 3% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a mild slump.
In value terms, leek exports reduced notably to $64M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, faced a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 7.2%.

Leek Imports in the Netherlands
