Kiwi Fruit Price in the UK (CIF) - 2023
The average kiwi fruit import price stood at $2,083 per ton in May 2023, rising by 19% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $2,349 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to May 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2023, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($4,480 per ton), while the price for Greece ($1,672 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by New Zealand (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Kiwi Fruit Price in the UK (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average kiwi fruit export price amounted to $1,899 per ton, dropping by -33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the average export price increased by 62%. The export price peaked at $3,104 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Iceland ($5,387 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($886 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+16.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Kiwi Fruit Imports in the UK
In 2022, supplies from abroad of kiwi fruits decreased by -2.2% to 30K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports showed a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 7.6%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 35K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, kiwi fruit imports declined to $64M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 24% against the previous year.

Over the period under review, exports showed a significant decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 56%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 2K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, kiwi fruit exports reduced sharply to $370K in 2022. Overall, exports faced a dramatic setback.
