Hazelnut Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average hazelnut export price amounted to $2,365 per ton, dropping by -17.5% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 an increase of 78% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $5,258 per ton. From June 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($2,520 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cyprus ($772 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Israel (+8.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Hazelnut Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average hazelnut import price amounted to $5,000 per ton, dropping by -2.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, hazelnut import price decreased by -7.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 30%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $5,381 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for India.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Lebanon amounted to +11.2% per year.
Hazelnut Exports in Turkey
In 2022, hazelnut exports from Turkey shrank significantly to 919 tons, which is down by -52.8% against 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 442% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 1.9K tons, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
In value terms, hazelnut exports dropped notably to $2.5M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed notable growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 375%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $5.9M, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.

For the third consecutive year, Turkey recorded decline in supplies from abroad of hazelnuts, which decreased by -99.9% to 1 kg in 2022. In general, imports saw a significant decline. The smallest decline of -45.9% was in 2020.
In value terms, hazelnut imports fell dramatically to $5 in 2022. Overall, imports faced a precipitous descent. The smallest decline of -49.4% was in 2020.
