Grape Price in the UK (CIF) - 2023

The average grape import price stood at $2,701 per ton in August 2023, picking up by 3.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 14% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,837 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Brazil ($2,985 per ton) and Peru ($2,968 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($2,158 per ton) and Spain ($2,742 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Namibia (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Grape Price in the UK (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average grape export price amounted to $2,257 per ton, waning by -13.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 23%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,091 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($3,188 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($1,586 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ireland (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Grape Imports in the UK

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was growth in supplies from abroad of grapes, when their volume increased by 0.9% to 272K tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a slight slump.

In value terms, grape imports contracted modestly to $661M in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 2.5%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $681M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Grape Exports in the UK

In 2022, shipments abroad of grapes decreased by -16.7% to 2.1K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a dramatic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 32%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 9.1K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, grape exports declined dramatically to $4.7M in 2022. In general, exports recorded a precipitous descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 45%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $23M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
