Grape Market Size in the UK

The UK grape market skyrocketed to $X in 2020, picking up by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Grape consumption peaked at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, consumption failed to regain the momentum.

Over the period under review, production reached the maximum level at $X in 2009; however, from 2010 to 2020, production failed to regain the momentum.

In 2020, the average yield of grapes in the UK dropped modestly to X kg per ha, which is down by -X% against the previous year's figure. In general, the yield recorded a perceptible slump. In value terms, grape exports soared to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a modest increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

The Netherlands (X tonnes), Ireland (X tonnes) and Spain (X tonnes) were the main destinations of grape exports from the UK, with a combined X% share of total exports. France, Germany, Denmark and Portugal lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Portugal (+X% per year), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Ireland ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and France ($X) constituted the largest markets for grape exported from the UK worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Spain, Germany, Denmark and Portugal, which together accounted for a further X the main countries of destination, Portugal (+X% per year) saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average grape export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, rising by X% against the previous year. Over the period from 2007 to 2020, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was France ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
