Grape Price in Denmark (CIF) - 2023

In August 2023, the average grape import price amounted to $2,413 per ton, shrinking by -8.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a slight increase from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, grape import price decreased by -19.5% against June 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 49% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,340 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Germany ($2,862 per ton) and Spain ($2,640 per ton), while the price for Greece ($1,923 per ton) and the Netherlands ($2,175 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+21.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Grape Price in Denmark (FOB) - 2023

In August 2023, the average grape export price amounted to $2,498 per ton, rising by 21% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a modest increase from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, grape export price decreased by -18.4% against June 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 42% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $4,554 per ton. From January 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Iceland ($3,843 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($2,243 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Grape Imports in Denmark

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of grapes, when their volume decreased by -13.4% to 21K tons. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 12%.

In value terms, grape imports dropped sharply to $52M in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 16%.

Grape Exports in Denmark

For the third year in a row, Denmark recorded decline in overseas shipments of grapes, which decreased by -35.1% to 2.4K tons in 2022. In general, exports recorded a dramatic decline. The smallest decline of -10% was in 2021.

In value terms, grape exports contracted dramatically to $6.6M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a sharp slump. The smallest decline of -9.4% was in 2021.
