Grape Price in Colombia (CIF) - 2022
The average grape import price stood at $2,325 per ton in February 2022, falling by -2.7% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2021 when the average import price increased by 13% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $2,514 per ton in October 2021; however, from November 2021 to February 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In February 2022, the country with the highest price was Chile ($2,567 per ton), while the price for Peru totaled $2,268 per ton.
From February 2021 to February 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Grape Price in Colombia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average grape export price amounted to $2,091 per ton, reducing by -14.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, posted a notable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 142%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,972 per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Curacao ($2,345 per ton), while the average price for exports to Aruba ($1,509 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+109.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Grape Imports in Colombia
In 2022, imports of grapes into Colombia skyrocketed to 15K tons, growing by 22% compared with the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, grape imports skyrocketed to $36M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +11.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Grape Exports in Colombia
In 2022, shipments abroad of grapes decreased by -21.3% to 20 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports recorded a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 217%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 68 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, grape exports dropped remarkably to $41K in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 668%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $202K.
