The average glass fibre voiles import price stood at $5,103 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -3.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a mild downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 31%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $8,040 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Germany ($5,264 per ton) and the UK ($4,915 per ton), while the price for the United States ($4,676 per ton) and Australia ($4,889 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Glass Fibre Voiles Imports in New Zealand
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of glass fibre voiles, when their volume decreased by -18% to 28 tons. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +44.2% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 56%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 34 tons, and then fell significantly in the following year.
In value terms, glass fibre voiles imports reduced sharply to $143K in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 72%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $181K, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
