Glass Fibre Filament Price in Tanzania (CIF) - 2022
The average glass fibre filament import price stood at $379 per ton in 2022, declining by -26.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 48% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,490 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($804 per ton), while the price for China ($370 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+41.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Glass Fibre Filament Imports in Tanzania
In 2022, purchases abroad of glass fibre filaments decreased by -3.6% to 451 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports, however, showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 5,349% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 688 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, glass fibre filament imports contracted significantly to $171K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 3,939%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $417K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
