Glass Fibre Filament Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average glass fibre filament import price amounted to $968 per ton, with an increase of 3.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 14% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $1,340 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for China.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for China amounted to -3.1% per year.

Glass Fibre Filament Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021

The average glass fibre filament export price stood at $1,441 per ton in December 2021, rising by 8.7% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated temperate growth from December 2020 to December 2021: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.6% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2021 figures, glass fibre filament export price decreased by -1.8% against October 2021 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2021 when the average export price increased by 21% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,468 per ton. From November 2021 to December 2021, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,700 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($1,038 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Glass Fibre Filament Imports in Malaysia

In 2022, overseas purchases of glass fibre filaments were finally on the rise to reach 18K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, faced a abrupt decrease.

In value terms, glass fibre filament imports soared to $17M in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt decline.

In value terms, glass fibre filament exports surged to $15M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a prominent expansion. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
