Fresh Chicken Cut Price in Lithuania (CIF) - 2023

The average fresh chicken cut import price stood at $3,161 per ton in October 2023, remaining constant against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,314 per ton in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to October 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($3,243 per ton), while the price for Estonia ($2,772 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Latvia (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Fresh Chicken Cut Price in Lithuania (FOB) - 2023

In October 2023, the average fresh chicken cut export price amounted to $4,096 per ton, waning by -1.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 6.4% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $4,276 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to October 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($5,561 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($935 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Fresh Chicken Cut Imports in Lithuania

In 2022, overseas purchases of fresh or chilled cuts of chicken decreased by -12.1% to 18K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports showed a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 14%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 21K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, fresh chicken cut imports reached $54M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +10.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 17%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, fresh chicken cut exports contracted to $38M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a abrupt setback. The smallest decline of -0.6% was in 2021.
