For the eleventh year in a row, the global market recorded growth in overseas shipments of fresh or chilled cuts of chicken, which increased by 5.9% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +72.9% against 2012 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 12%. Over the period under review, the global exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, fresh chicken cut exports soared to $X in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +50.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 24%. The following exporters - the UK (X tons), France (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Hungary (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons) - together made up 15% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Ukraine (with a CAGR of +124.2%), while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Poland ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and the United States ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 61% share of global exports. Belgium, Germany, Hungary, France, Belarus, Ukraine, the UK and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 25%.

Among the main exporting countries, Ukraine, with a CAGR of +132.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average fresh chicken cut export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 14% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.0%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 21% against the previous year. The global export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while Sweden ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, the average fresh chicken cut import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 26% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
