In 2022, the average fish parts import price amounted to $7,558 per ton, increasing by 17% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a slight decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 18% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $10,240 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($9,633 per ton), while the price for China ($3,993 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+16.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average fish parts export price stood at $3,139 per ton in 2022, jumping by 37% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt descent. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Colombia (+11.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, approx. 586 tons of fish heads, tails and maws were imported into the United States; rising by 61% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 114% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, fish parts imports skyrocketed to $4.4M in 2022. In general, imports recorded a significant increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
