Electronic Chip Price in Hungary (CIF) - 2023
The average electronic chip import price stood at $67.3 per thousand units in August 2023, jumping by 17% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 191% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $178 per thousand units in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($193 per thousand units), while the price for Ireland ($15.0 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Electronic Chip Price in Hungary (FOB) - 2022
The average electronic chip export price stood at $0.2 per unit in 2022, declining by -13.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 92%. The export price peaked at $0.2 per unit in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($0.3 per unit), while the average price for exports to the UK (less than $0.1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+24.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Electronic Chip Imports in Hungary
For the third consecutive year, Hungary recorded decline in purchases abroad of electronic chips, which decreased by -16.2% to 68B units in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a precipitous shrinkage. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at 260B units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, electronic chip imports rose notably to $3.9B in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 15%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Electronic Chip Exports in Hungary
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of electronic chips, when their volume increased by 32% to 3.7B units. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a abrupt shrinkage. The exports peaked at 6.5B units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, electronic chip exports rose markedly to $604M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
