Dry Vegetable Price in Australia (CIF) - 2023

The average dry vegetable import price stood at $3,656 per ton in September 2023, reducing by -7.9% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 17% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $3,968 per ton in August 2023, and then reduced in the following month.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($8,805 per ton), while the price for China ($2,850 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+6.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Dry Vegetable Price in Australia (FOB) - 2022

The average dry vegetable export price stood at $22,581 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 53% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 155%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($95,996 per ton), while the average price for exports to Greece ($1,545 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+13.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Dry Vegetable Imports in Australia

Dry vegetable imports into Australia rose to 14K tons in 2022, with an increase of 3.6% against 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 9.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, dry vegetable imports stood at $50M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +10.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
