Diagnostic Equipment Price in the UK (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average diagnostic equipment export price amounted to $73 per unit, with an increase of 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 49% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $77 per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($137 per unit), while the average price for exports to India ($8.6 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Diagnostic Equipment Price in the UK (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average diagnostic equipment import price amounted to $49.9 per unit, surging by 7.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a slight curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 29% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $72.0 per unit in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($249 per unit), while the price for Austria ($8.9 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Costa Rica (+11.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Diagnostic Equipment Exports in the UK
In 2022, shipments abroad of electro-diagnostic apparatus, and ultra-violet or infra-red ray apparatus decreased by -38.1% to 11M units, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports showed a abrupt shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 76% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 28M units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, diagnostic equipment exports fell to $836M in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 36%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $1.1B. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

For the fourth consecutive year, the UK recorded growth in purchases abroad of electro-diagnostic apparatus, and ultra-violet or infra-red ray apparatus, which increased by 14% to 23M units in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +20.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +75.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 53%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
