Crude Glycerol Price in Kenya (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average crude glycerol export price amounted to $2,199 per ton, growing by 6.9% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 39%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,433 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uganda ($7,374 per ton), while the average price for exports to Burundi ($1,319 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uganda (+18.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Crude Glycerol Price in Kenya (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average crude glycerol import price amounted to $1,850 per ton, which is down by -4% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, crude glycerol import price increased by +12.7% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $2,296 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($2,567 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($538 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+13.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Crude Glycerol Exports in Kenya

Crude glycerol exports from Kenya rose notably to 18 tons in 2022, surging by 5.3% on 2021. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 23%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 18 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, crude glycerol exports rose sharply to $39K in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +8.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 41%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $43K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
