Crude Coconut Oil Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2021

The average crude coconut oil import price stood at $1,631 per ton in December 2021, surging by 4.7% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2021 when the average import price increased by 11% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in December 2021.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the countries with the highest prices were Indonesia ($1,712 per ton) and Papua New Guinea ($1,693 per ton), while the price for the Philippines ($1,500 per ton) and Singapore ($1,553 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Crude Coconut Oil Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021

The average crude coconut oil export price stood at $2,040 per ton in December 2021, surging by 25% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated notable growth from December 2020 to December 2021: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.5% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2021 figures, crude coconut oil export price decreased by -3.5% against August 2021 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2021 when the average export price increased by 36% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,115 per ton. From September 2021 to December 2021, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($2,601 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($1,588 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Crude Coconut Oil Imports in Malaysia

In 2022, approx. 171K tons of crude coconut (copra) oil were imported into Malaysia; waning by -20.6% compared with 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +34.7% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 70% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 215K tons, and then plummeted in the following year.

In value terms, crude coconut oil imports reduced markedly to $242M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 87%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $315M, and then dropped notably in the following year.

Crude Coconut Oil Exports in Malaysia

In 2022, approx. 35K tons of crude coconut (copra) oil were exported from Malaysia; increasing by 43% compared with 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a perceptible setback.

In value terms, crude coconut oil exports expanded rapidly to $40M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 15%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $44M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
