Crude Coconut Oil Price in Australia (CIF) - 2022

The average crude coconut oil import price stood at $2,345 per ton in 2022, waning by -20.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 106% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $7,249 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($9,501 per ton), while the price for Fiji ($1,805 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+15.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average crude coconut oil export price amounted to $4,473 per ton, reducing by -9.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 599% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $49,576 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($10,556 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($1,751 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+8.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Crude Coconut Oil Imports in Australia

For the fourth consecutive year, Australia recorded growth in supplies from abroad of crude coconut (copra) oil, which increased by 44% to 676 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 139%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, crude coconut oil imports rose rapidly to $1.6M in 2022. Overall, imports saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 286% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 285 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, crude coconut oil exports contracted sharply to $140K in 2022. In general, exports saw a sharp slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 1.7% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $1.1M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
