Cranes; Tower Cranes Price in Hong Kong SAR (CIF) - 2023
The average cranes; tower cranes import price stood at $98,813 per unit in June 2023, reducing by -16.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 when the average import price increased by 172% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $590K per unit in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to June 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($782K per unit), while the price for China totaled $79,848 per unit.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average cranes; tower cranes export price amounted to $138,391 per unit, declining by -29% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 82%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $194,827 per unit, and then plummeted in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($324,152 per unit), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($69,555 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+12.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cranes; Tower Cranes Imports in Hong Kong SAR
In 2022, overseas purchases of cranes; tower craneses decreased by -20.8% to 426 units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +45.4% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 37% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 538 units, and then declined rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, cranes; tower cranes imports dropped sharply to $36M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 88%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $47M, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

The exports peaked at 50 units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, cranes; tower cranes exports shrank sharply to $2.5M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a sharp curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 54% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $6.5M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
