Efforts are being made to reduce CO2 emissions from concrete production. One approach is the development of alternative materials to replace cement, such as fly ash, slag, or other industrial byproducts. These materials can partially substitute cement, reducing the overall CO2 emissions.
Another strategy is the adoption of more energy-efficient production techniques, such as using renewable energy sources or optimizing the cement production process. Additionally, advancements in concrete technology aim to reduce the amount of cement needed in concrete mixes without compromising its quality and performance.
Overall, the high CO2 emissions associated with concrete production highlight the need for sustainable practices, innovations, and alternatives in the construction industry to mitigate the environmental impact of this widely used material.
