Chocolate Price in the United Arab Emirates (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average chocolate import price amounted to $6,072 per ton, declining by -5.4% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average import price increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $6,419 per ton in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($10,391 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($2,956 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+12.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Chocolate Price in the United Arab Emirates (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average chocolate export price amounted to $4,684 per ton, standing approx. at the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 28%. The export price peaked at $5,912 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($7,038 per ton), while the average price for exports to Tanzania ($1,114 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+10.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Chocolate Imports in the United Arab Emirates

In 2022, the amount of chocolate and cocoa products imported into the United Arab Emirates reduced to 85K tons, waning by -5.7% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports saw a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 13% against the previous year.

In value terms, chocolate imports declined to $514M in 2022. In general, imports showed a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 28%.
