Chicken Egg Price in Latvia (FOB) - 2023
In October 2023, the average chicken egg export price amounted to $2,270 per ton, waning by -3.3% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated slight growth from October 2022 to October 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on October 2023 figures, chicken egg export price decreased by -3.3% against September 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 an increase of 80% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,718 per ton. From April 2023 to October 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In October 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Estonia ($2,536 per ton) and Poland ($2,463 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($1,715 per ton) and France ($1,785 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Estonia (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average chicken egg import price stood at $1,867 per ton in October 2023, declining by -6.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 11% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $2,110 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to October 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($3,323 per ton), while the price for Finland ($958 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chicken Egg Exports in Latvia
In 2022, approx. 37K tons of chicken eggs were exported from Latvia; jumping by 63% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports posted a buoyant expansion. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
