In value terms, chicken egg production declined to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, the total production indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production decreased by -6.5% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 82% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2014 to 2021, global production growth failed to regain momentum.
The country with the largest volume of chicken egg production was China (X tons), accounting for 34% of total volume. Moreover, chicken egg production in China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, the United States (X tons), fourfold. India (X tons) ranked third in terms of total production with a 7.4% share.
In China, chicken egg production increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining producing countries recorded the following average annual rates of production growth: the United States (+2.0% per year) and India (+6.2% per year).

In 2021, overseas shipments of chicken eggs were finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Over the period under review, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 8.4%. Over the period under review, the global exports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, chicken egg exports soared to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 18%. Over the period under review, the global exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
In 2021, the Netherlands (X tons), distantly followed by Turkey (X tons), Poland (X tons), Germany (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the largest exporters of chicken eggs, together comprising 60% of total exports. Belgium (X tons), Thailand (X tons), China (X tons), the United States (X tons), Ukraine (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Russia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of +25.6%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest chicken egg supplying countries worldwide were the Netherlands ($X), the United States ($X) and Turkey ($X), together comprising 44% of global exports. Germany, Poland, Belgium, Spain, Malaysia, China, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia and Thailand lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 32%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Spain, with a CAGR of +12.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average chicken egg export price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.0%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, purchases abroad of chicken eggs increased by 3.1% to X tons, rising for the fifth year in a row after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 11%. Over the period under review, global imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, chicken egg imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

The countries with the highest levels of chicken egg imports in 2021 were Uzbekistan (X tons), Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons), Iraq (X tons), Belgium (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Mexico (X tons), together amounting to 71% of total import.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +32.0%), while imports for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Russia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 32% share of global imports. These countries were followed by Hong Kong SAR, Iraq, Mexico, Belgium, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore and Uzbekistan, which together accounted for a further 27%.
Among the main importing countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +36.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average chicken egg import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 6.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average import price increased by 7.3%. Global import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
