The Netherlands continued its dominance in the global bird egg trade. In 2014, the Netherlands exported 554 thousand tonnes of bird eggs totaling 976 million USD, 3% under the previous year. Its primary trading partner on the global egg market was Germany, where it supplied 54% of its total bird egg exports in value terms, accounting for 78% of Germany's total imports.

Overall, the global bird egg trade reached 4,464 million USD, with a CAGR of 10% from 2007 to 2014. In physical terms, it increased from 1,449 thousand tonnes in 2007 to 2,018 thousand tonnes in 2014.

In 2014, Germany (20%), the Netherlands (12%), the Russian Federation (9%), Mexico (5%) and Singapore (4%) were the leading destinations of bird egg imports, together making up 50% of global imports. The share of the Russian Federation increased (+6 percentage points), while the share of Germany illustrated negative dynamics (-5 percentage points).

The U.S. and Turkey were among the other main global suppliers of bird eggs in 2014 with a combined share of 20% of global exports. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Turkey (+29% per year) and the United Kingdom (+19% per year). Turkey strengthened its position in the global export structure, from 3% in 2007 to 9% in 2014.
