Cheese and Curd Price in Kazakhstan (CIF) - 2022

The average cheese and curd import price stood at $4,459 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 26% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $4,839 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($5,775 per ton), while the price for Iran ($2,242 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cheese and Curd Price in Kazakhstan (FOB) - 2022

The average cheese and curd export price stood at $3,828 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 32% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 52% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,883 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mongolia ($4,557 per ton), while the average price for exports to Uzbekistan ($2,183 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mongolia (+8.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cheese and Curd Imports in Kazakhstan

For the fourth year in a row, Kazakhstan recorded growth in supplies from abroad of cheese and curd, which increased by 5.1% to 35K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.5% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, cheese and curd imports surged to $155M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +21.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +78.3% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Cheese and Curd Exports in Kazakhstan

In 2022, overseas shipments of cheese and curd decreased by -27.4% to 2.7K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports continue to indicate a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 8%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 3.7K tons, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, cheese and curd exports reduced slightly to $10M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a slight curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 0.3%.
