Cauliflower and Broccoli Price in Latvia (CIF) - 2023
The average cauliflower and broccoli import price stood at $1,174 per ton in August 2023, increasing by 6.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a mild increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 50% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,197 per ton. From June 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($4,036 per ton), while the price for Germany ($1,014 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+12.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cauliflower and Broccoli Price in Latvia (FOB) - 2022
The average cauliflower and broccoli export price stood at $1,605 per ton in 2022, reducing by -14.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, cauliflower and broccoli export price increased by +27.1% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,876 per ton in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($1,843 per ton), while the average price for exports to Estonia totaled $1,493 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lithuania (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Cauliflower and Broccoli Imports in Latvia
For the fourth consecutive year, Latvia recorded growth in purchases abroad of cauliflower and broccoli, which increased by 21% to 4.1K tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +15.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +53.5% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, cauliflower and broccoli imports reached $4.6M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +59.4% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
