Cashew Nut Price in Thailand (FOB) - 2022
The average cashew nut export price stood at $949 per ton in 2022, surging by 26% against the previous year. In general, the export price posted a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 77% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,797 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lao People's Democratic Republic ($1,346 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cambodia ($739 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lao People's Democratic Republic (+31.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average cashew nut import price amounted to $1,164 per ton, declining by -26.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 102% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3,643 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Lao People's Democratic Republic ($1,207 per ton), while the price for Myanmar totaled $1,082 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cambodia (+10.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Cashew Nut Exports in Thailand
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of cashew nuts, when their volume decreased by -27.5% to 4.8K tons. Overall, exports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 73%.
In value terms, cashew nut exports declined to $4.5M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +62.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 52% against the previous year.
