In July 2023, the average carbonates; potassium carbonate import price amounted to $1,291 per ton, with an increase of 7.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2022 when the average import price increased by 23% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $1,849 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($2,874 per ton), while the price for China ($924 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (-0.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average carbonates; potassium carbonate export price stood at $1,145 per ton in 2022, surging by 71% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a deep downturn. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($2,329 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($763 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+10.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
