In 2022, the average brown rice export price amounted to $1,153 per ton, rising by 1.6% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, brown rice export price increased by +23.4% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 31%. The export price peaked at $1,272 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($1,482 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kuwait ($875 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+9.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Brown rice exports from Sri Lanka rose markedly to 995 tons in 2022, picking up by 9.3% against the previous year's figure. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 28%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 1.2K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, brown rice exports expanded remarkably to $1.1M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +9.2% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 33% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $1.2M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
